Continuity Editing Exercise and Feedback

My Continuity Editing Video

Good point about my work:
I really enjoyed this particular exercise, reasons being is because I was able to be as creative as I liked. I think I really involved a lot of the digital technology with my video which made it very effective. I included close ups, long shots, over the shoulder shots, also I added match on action which was tricky to master but I had a lot of fun trying. Also I used the 180 degree rule which meant that I was only aloud to stay recording on one side of the shot the characters were in. I think I was very creative as I put a twist in it, people were expecting her to tell her mother that she was pregnant when really she broke the toilet seat. This added an element of comedy to my piece and making it fun and enjoyable to sit and enjoy!
I fount it really easy and enjoyable doing my 'post-production', this is because it was really simple to get the hang of editing my piece and I was able to muck around with different elements and effects.
The planning to my video was pretty easy. A fun idea came to mind, and from then on we developed it even more.

Not so good points about my work:
Personally I feel I could have used a better set for my video as it was difficult finding a free standing toilet to use in particular scenes. Also it was hard to clarify that there was a mother in the video as the two characters were similar ages, so personally I could have found an older character to play a mother.

Targets/improvements I would make:
I think that I could have again improved the set, also I could have thought up a more creative story as my one was pretty simple (yet funny) I think that I could have maybe done some research on stories on how a mother would respond to her daughter being pregnant or getting attacked to make that scene of the mother imagining things seem more real/relatable for viewers.

  1. What i like most about this evalaution is your use of media lanaguage and your explanation of how your improvements would impact on the work. You could have written a bit more on aspects such as sound and editing but a good start.
